Dr. George Cooper is a leading surgical specialist performing state-of-the-art laser treatments for varicose and spider veins. He is a well-known, respected cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon, using his experience and vascular knowledge to give you the best possible care. He has been a long time faculty member at Brown University Medical School. Northeast Vein & Laser Center specializes in the most advanced laser vein procedures. All treatments are performed in our private, comfortable and convenient facility. In fact, virtually all varicose vein treatments can be done in office using modern techniques, thereby providing no "down time" and excellent cosmetic results. Vein procedures are often Insurance and Medicare reimbursable.

Spider Vein Treatment

Our center(located in Warwick and convenient to Providence) is very successful with spider veins and injection sclerotherapy. We use the 940 Dornier laser, combined with sclerotherapy for spiders, with excellent results. The Dornier 940 is the best and most effective laser for spider veins. We have the only 940 in the state of Rhode Island. Our results since opening the center have been excellent, especially in terms of endovenous laser ablation and sclerotherapy with skin laser for spider veins. As a patient, you can be assured that you have one of the finest surgeons in Rhode Island, often voted into the "Best Docs" section of the Rhode Island Monthly magazine.

Varicose Vein Treatment

Depending on the system that is involved, many times we are able to use a laser to treat the cause of the varicose vein. If a patient has saphenous insufficiency, meaning the saphenous vein is not working as well as it should, we are able to close this vein with a laser. This procedure has replaced the older method of stripping and is minimally invasive. All varicose vein treatments are performed in the office setting using a local anesthetic and normally requires about an hour. There is minimal to no discomfort after the procedure and normal activities may typically be resumed after the third day.

The large superficial “bumps” seen in varicose veins are gently removed with a procedure called micro-phlebectomy (or ambulatory phlebectomy). Tiny incisions are made after numbing with a small needle, and the vein is removed. This procedure is usually performed in conjunction with the laser.
